Gomez is a Mescalero Apache chief in Larry's McMurtry's novel "Dead Man's Walk". He kills Whites and Mexicans along the Jornada del Muerto.
Gomez was based on a real Mescalero Apache chief called by the Mexicans Juan Gomez. A feared and belligerent chief, he was even nicknamed "the terror of Chihuahua,"
